Michelle Kamprath

Head of Clinical & Analytic Strategy

Michelle Kamprath works at the intersection of the numbers and the clinical decisions behind pharmacy strategy. As Head of Clinical & Analytic Strategy at Expion Health, she helps plan sponsors understand what is driving trends, which opportunities can meaningfully change it and how to make decisions that hold up both clinically and financially.

Her approach is grounded in pharmacoeconomics, the discipline of evaluating medications based on both clinical value and cost. Rather than treating analytics and clinical strategy as separate disciplines, Michelle brings them into the same decision process. She helps clients understand the true economics of the drugs they cover, weigh formulary tradeoffs and translate those insights into strategies tailored to their populations rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

With over twenty years in healthcare, Michelle has built a view across patient care, specialty pharmacy and the PBM industry. She began in behavioral health before joining CuraScript, where she worked with pharmaceutical manufacturers on drug launches and limited-distribution strategies. She then spent 16 years with the organization that evolved from Walgreens Health Initiatives to CatalystRx and Optum Rx, progressing through account management and clinical consulting leadership before serving as Vice President of Trend Insights & Analytics. In that role, she led thought leadership on drug trends, pricing analytics and market dynamics.

Michelle holds an M.S. in Pharmacy Outcomes & Policy with a Master’s Certificate in Pharmacoeconomics from the University of Florida, an MBA from the University of Central Florida and a B.S. in Psychology from Charleston Southern University.

What’s your Expion factor superpower?

Bringing clinical rigor and analytic depth into the same conversation.

What quote represents your personal philosophy?

“The secret of getting ahead is getting started.” —Mark Twain

When you’re not busy moving pharmacy forward, what can we find you doing?

Probably getting ready for wherever my husband’s planned our next trip, running or cycling, or debating football (i.e. soccer) with anyone who’ll listen. I like staying active—running, cycling, lifting weights, whatever keeps me moving, and I’m a die-hard Chelsea FC supporter. Traveling is my other constant; I just love wherever we end up.
