Karin Humphrey

Chief Executive Officer

Karin Humphrey has spent her career building what pharmacy needs next. As Chief Executive Officer of Expion Health, she leads the company’s growth and vision with the same builder’s mindset that has defined her career: challenge what has become standard, move quickly as the market changes and create innovative ways to solve client problems.

Under Karin’s leadership, Expion has grown from a single-digit EBITDA business into one of the largest independent pharmacy benefit cost-containment organizations. She oversees the people, capabilities and infrastructure needed to support that scale, while shaping a culture built on collaboration, clear communication and high performance. Her focus is ensuring Expion can continue to grow without losing the speed, curiosity and entrepreneurial thinking that set it apart.

Karin’s career reflects that same instinct to build. She joined CatalystRx as one of its first employees and grew with the organization from a locally focused PBM into a national company, helping build capabilities across client services, pharmacy operations and health plan support. She later became a founding executive and Chief Operating Officer of Gateway Health Partners, where she helped pioneer a disaggregated pharmacy solutions model and grow the company into one of the largest independent pharmacy rebate aggregators before its acquisition in a transaction valued in the hundreds of millions.

From answering PBM customer service calls in her first job as a teenager to leading Expion today, Karin has built experience across the pharmacy ecosystem. That perspective reinforces her belief that the future belongs to organizations willing to challenge established models, adapt faster and build pharmacy strategy around what clients actually need.

Karin graduated cum laude from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, with a degree in Corporate Communications and a minor in Marketing. She also holds an MBA focused on strategic leadership.

What’s your Expion factor superpower?

Igniting bold innovation to accelerate what’s next.

What quote represents your personal philosophy?

“Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.” That message from Marianne Williamson, along with Linda Ellis’s The Dash, reminds me not to let fear or self-doubt keep me from pursuing ambitious ideas—and to make the time I have count through the relationships I build, the risks I take, the people I help and the legacy I leave behind.

When you’re not busy moving pharmacy forward, what can we find you doing?

My favorite role is being a mom to my two children, Chloe and Jack. I love spending time with my family, traveling and exploring new places together. At home, life includes two cats and the occasional Pilates reformer workout to recharge.
